We select only the highest quality grains that cook to a beautiful shiny, indigo color. Impress guests and family with this visual and exotic rice. COMPLEMENT YOUR DISH: Purple rice is a variation of jasmine rice. Although it is often used to create visual interest in certain entrees, it is cooked similarly to other versions of jasmine or Thai sticky rice. Purple rice can be cooked on its own or as a part of a mixture with white jasmine rice. PERFECT FOR: Purple sticky rice makes a nourishing breakfast or dessert and is loaded with the same powerful antioxidants found in blueberries, eggplants and other purple ‘superfoods’. Traditionally used as a Thai dessert rice. Can be served with sweet syrup, coconut milk or fresh fruit. In Bhutan, this rice is often paired with mushrooms and chile peppers since its rich taste stands up to assertive flavors. HOW TO USE: Rinse well. Place 1 cup rice and 2 cups unsalted water in pot with lid. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer on low for 40 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 10 minutes.
